Prima edizione
Folio. 12 x 15.75 in. 32 pp., first & last pages printed in red & black, numerous photo illustrations, text illustrations, and illustrated ads throughout. Self-printed softcovers as issued, center crease fold as issued (minor creasing & wear to corners, minor tears to fore-edges, a few closed tears neatly repaired at fore-edges, uniform toning as usual), still a G sound copy. First edition of this surprisingly uncommon installment in the bimonthly Muhammad Speaks newspaper founded originally in 1961 by Malcolm X, and which was originally printed in the basement of his house. By requiring every male member of the Nation of Islam to sell an assigned number of newspapers for recruiting and fund-raising, he quickly raised the circulation of the newspaper to over 600,000 making it one of the mostly widely read Black American newspapers. After Malcolm X's split with Elijah Muhammad in 1964, the publishing of the newspaper was taken over by Muhammad's Mosque No. 2 headquarters in Chicago, where it continued to be published under this title until Muhammad's death in 1975, and renamed the Muslim Journal. This issue offers pointed critiques of the Vietnam War, the impact by the War on the African-American community, as well as the resistance by such Civil Rights figures as Ossie Davis and other Black political and radical figures against the "liberal White Candidates" such as Hubert Humphrey prior to the disastrous 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Good. 3rd Edition. Original wraps printed in Arabic to the front, with colour annotated Palestine map to the back 17x24cm. Printed by Dar al Kitab al Arabi Press, Egypt. 252pp including b/w photos, drawings and maps in-text + b/w folding map bound in at the end + a related colour folding map inserted loosely. Covers good, foxed and marked, interiors very good with the bound-in folding map coming loose. The loose folding map is neatly folded, partially cropped to the caption along its bottom edge. Both the book and map are ink stamped in Arabic to their fronts: "Gift from the Arab Higher Committee for Palestine". Scarce (OCLC 1227666001, 21145219, 741183128). This 3rd edition dated 1957 contains a new Introduction. Worldcat also records the earlier editions in 1954 and 1956. This contains material that first appeared in Al-Masry newspaper in response to questions posed by its Editor-in-Chief to the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Hajj Amin Al-Husseini. Al-Husseini had established the Arab Higher Committee after the Great Arab Revolt in 1936 as a political platform for Mandatory Palestinians. It included Arab clan leaders and political parties chaired by the Mufti, with committees at town and larger village level. When the British outlawed it in 1937, Al-Husseini escaped to Beirut while other members were arrested and exiled. It revived briefly in 1938 for talks with the British to resolve inter-communal issues, and although Al-Husseini was not allowed to attend, he influenced proceedings. He spent the war years in Europe collaborating with the Nazis, then moved to Egypt after WW2. In 1945 the Arab League reformed the AHC, dominated by Al-Husseini's family via the Palestine Arab Party, with Al-Husseini rejoining as Chair in 1947. In that year the AHC boycotted the UN Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) and rejected its recommendations, and rejected the Ad Hoc Committee for Palestine's recommendation and the UN General Assembly's subsequent vote for partition. The AHC became largely irrelevent as a political force after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. LOOSE MAP: "Map of the Arab World illustrating the Importance of Palestine's location among Arab Countries", issued by the AHC, Cairo 1377 AH, 1958 AD, 48x32cm, titled and captioned in Arabic. This shows Arab League states in green from Morocco to the Gulf, with Palestine in red. The partially cropped caption along the bottom reads: "The Jewish colonial conspiracy against Palestine and its transformation into a state extended the policy of separating the Arab countries in Asia from the Arab countries in Africa".
