Hardcover. Condizione: Good. 2nd Revised & Enlarged. 1862 Hard cover. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION. A unique copy, signed (inscribed) by Louis Agassiz "to my friend D. H. Hill." My research cannot yet determine thus, but if this is General (and scholar) Daniel Harvey Hill the inscription is doubly important, and at any rate unique. This is the 1862 edition revised and enlarged, best because of the eight color plates. 632 pages, 278 other illustrations. Index ends at c, missing last three pages. The book was rebound long ago, in brown pebbled cloth, with 3/4 black leather, titles in gilt on spine. Binding and hinges are tight, corners and edges mildly rubbed. Faint foxing here and there, more notable on blank end papers, but text is quite clean, especially for a 165 year old work. Considering age, an overall grade of very good, flaws noted. Shelf H.
