Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Quintus Horatius Flaccus was the leading lyric poet of the Augustan Age of ancient Rome. Today he is known simply as Horace, and is considered to be one of the greatest of ancient Roman authors. This is the edition published by Walter J. Black circa 1947, with an excellent introduction by George F. Wincher. The translations are by various individuals, including Wincher, himself, Sir Stephen Edward De Vere, Leigh Hunt, Patrick Branwell Brontë, Louis Untermeyer, W. E. Gladstone, Alexander Pope, John Dryden, Richard Crashaw, Eugene Field, Austin Dobson, A. L. Taylor, Ben Jonson, Sir Philip Sidney, William Cowper, John Dryden, and many others.
