Hardback. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. First Edition. Icarus de Plume (pseudonym of Malcolm Douglass Whitman). The Island of Elcadar: A Pilgrimage in Novel-Land . With Introductory Note by FitzHugh MontMorency . Romantic Professor Psychology in the Siberian College of Umsk in the District of Ural. Boston: Marshall Jones Company, [1921]. First edition. Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-111 [112: printer's imprint]. Original brown boards printed in black on front cover with pictorial paper onlay, black cloth shelf-back stamped in gold. Illustrated with numerous vignettes in the text and a half-tone frontis. With gift inscription on front free endpaper from author to "Mrs. Robert W. Chambers / after all these years / with the kind regards of / Icarus de Plume / February 1929" A fine copy in fine pictorial dust jacket. #1760. $25. An exercise in parody, lightly surrealistic, amusing in small doses, beautifully designed and printed, and of some interest for its inscription. "MontMorency" is, of course, an invention and alter ego of "Icarus de Plume" A curiosity for the curious. The author wrote, among other things, a bibliography of tennis. WorldCat believes the book is relevant to the subject of tobacco. Smith P-453.
