Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Unclipped. This edition published by Halcyon House in its Illustrated Library series. No date is given, but series appeared in the 1950s, and not earlier. Translator from French to English is not credited but it is interesting to see the imaginative illustrations of Alexander King, a witty guest on talk shows in the 1950s and 1960s, and himself author of books such as "May This House Be Safe From Tigers" and "Is There Life After Birth?" Unfaded but slightly yellowed white boards with whimsical green and pink designs have little edge wear, because well protected by pictorial green, pink and black d.j, itself having suffered chipping to edges. Book plate of former owner on front paste down.

"Giovanni Boccaccio (16 June 1313 21 December 1375) was an Italian writer, poet, correspondent of Petrarch, and an important Renaissance humanist. Boccaccio wrote a number of notable works, including The Decameron and On Famous Women. He wrote his imaginative literature mostly in the Italian vernacular, as well as other works in Latin, and is particularly noted for his realistic dialogue which differed from that of his contemporaries, medieval writers who usually followed formulaic models for character and plot."
