Aggiungi al carrelloVolume I only of a three volume set. Full title - A TREATISE ON THE PARTIES TO ACTIONS, THE FORMS OF ACTIONS, AND ON PLEADING, WITH SECOND AND THIRD VOLUMES, CONTAINING PRECEDENTS OF PLEADINGS. IN THREE VOLUMES. VOL. I. BY JOSEPH CHITTY, ESQ. OF THE MIDDLE TEMPLE, BARRISTER AT LAW. SIXTH AMERICAN, FROM THE FIFTH LONDON EDITION, CORRECTED AND ENLARGED; WITH NOTES AND ADDITIONS, BY JOHN A. DUNLAP, ESQ. AND ADDITIONAL NOTES, AND REFERENCES TO LATER DECISIONS, BY E.D. INGRAHAM, ESQ. (Spine title "Chitty's Pleadings | Vol. 1.") Springfield - New York - Philadelphia: Published by G. and C. Merriam - Collins & Hannay - Grigg & Elliott, 1833. i-xvi, 1-814 pages. H 24.25cm x L 15cm. Contemporary full calf leather well rubbed with some soiling/staining; shallow chipping to spine ends; old ink signature "Meek" near spine head; some wear to spine's gilt-lettered red title label and black vol# label; immediately below spine's black label is slender band of surface loss exposing quires caused by removal of past owner's personal label. Some stains and soiling to toned text block edges. November 1878 pencil inscriptions of W.C. Meek, Columbus, Miss. on front endpapers; ffep also has ink signature and illegible note in colored wax pencil; ink cross-over to fairly illegible faded ink name at top of title page; old pencil writing on rear endpapers; toning/foxing throughout along with moisture stains to early leaves. One quire and a few leaves slightly pulled; a few stress points but binding remains reasonably firm. Acquired among a collection of nineteenth century law books gathered over years by a 20th century Columbus, Mississippi attorney from various descendants of the picturesque southern city's preeminent antebellum bar. William Cannon Meek (1857-1923) practiced law for many years in Columbus and was a son of Confederate Army veteran and attorney Samuel Mills Meek (1835-1901) who may well have owned the book prior to his progeny as the former's career was a bit more contemporary to the book's publication. Samuel Meek was a younger brother (and hence William's uncle) to poet, newspaper editor, lawyer, judge, and politician Alexander Beaufort Meek (1814-1865) who also served as Alabama attorney general and Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives. Please note that this thick book has an approximate shipping weight of 3 pounds (1.36 kg) and may require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail.

Aggiungi al carrelloHalbleinen. *** Der außergewöhnlich seltene Originaldruck des Americanums *** (Ingraham, Edward Duncan). A sketch of the events which preceded the capture of Washington. by the British, on the twenty-fourth of August, 1814. Philadelphia. 1849. IV, 66 S. Gr.-8°. Motto des Titels ist das Zitat George Washingtons: "If we desire to avoid insult, we must be prepared to repel it" (1793). Von größter Seltenheit, mehrfach reprinted und nachgedruckt, im Original aber praktisch unauffindbar, nur wenige Exemplare in Bibliotheken.
