Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Lyonel Feininger (illustratore). 1st Edition. Lyonel Feininger (1871 - 1956), was a German American artist whose works exhibited elements of Cubism, Expressionism, and Naive art. He was connected to the group of artists known, collectively as "Der Blaue Reiter". Feininger was also noted for working as a cartoonist, and for his photography. The following book there are selections from letter that Feininger wrote - mostly to his wife, in which he described his creative inspiration and thinking. The illustrations are selected from a series of drawings and prints he did of a structure built on a cliff on the Baltic coast. These works of art, bordering on abstractions, impart the impact that the weather and coastal light had on Feininger's art. There is something grave and solemn, as well as fresh and inspirational in these works; one can sense a feeling of spirituality.
