WILEY, editor, content clean & tight with b/w photos, DJ is colorful & bright, little chipping to head of spine & front corner chipped, tape residue at bottom of spine with a little layer of paper removed, tape residue on rear cover near top flap fold, INCLUDED is a xerox copy of an interesting article praising both James Nisbet & his book which was originally published in 1914. Towards the end of the article, Dr. Bell Wiley's 1963 new edition was prasied also saying " in every respect this is a superior work to the original edtion. Dr. Wiley provided a solid introduction, footnote references and index. Factual slips were either corrected or underscored. The text was tightenend to eliminate some of Nisbet's tangents. Grammatical changes were incorporated to bring the text more in line with modern styles. Few Civil War books deserve the overused word "classic," but Nisbet's is one of them.". Signed by Editor.
