With ingenious cunning, he would strike a crushing blow to the forces of evil. He was The Shadow! First Paperback Ed. & 1st Printing!. 144 Pages; (May 1977 printing); "The lure of gold - that lust which has made men kill throughout the ages - had gripped the enemies of justice. The swindle of the century threatened to put the world at the mercy of either a power-hungry, underhanded financier and his cohorts, or an accentric creator of synthetic gold. But the common purpose which brought Forster, Morsles, and Armagnas to inventor Lucien Partridge did not stop them from cunningly plotting behind each other's backs. Only The Shadow could halt the creation of a Gold Empire. Garbed in black, silently stalking the streets, he alone could triumph over evil. The insidious princes of the underworld would be crushed by this Master Crime-Fighter - The Shadow! And there could be no worse hands than those of Professor Folcroft Urlich, the brilliant and utterly unscrupuolous man of science, from whose hellish laboratory issued the horrible 'silent death' - murder so ingenious, so undetectable, that its victims appeared to have died of natural causes alone. Who knew where the plague of death might strike next? Who could match wits with this most prodigious of criminal masterminds? Who might rid the world of the ghoulish terror that dogged its footsteps? The answer to all these questions was only an eerie laugh - the sardonic sound of quiet triumph that emanated from a ghostly figure garbed all in black, whose spakling eyes and gleaming automatics sent a chill of fear through the hearts of wrongdoers everywhere. The Shadow! Aggiungi al carrelloMass Market Paperback. Condizione: Good. James Steranko & Frederick Blakeslee (front covers) (illustratore). First Edition. ----------6 paperbacks. Reprints of novels first published in the "G-8 and His Battle Aces" pulp magazine in the 1930s. There were many other G-8 novels, but Berkley only published 8 volumes. Offered here are the first 6 of the 8 volumes, missing are volumes 7 and 8. Most of the books have pronounced browning to page block edges and damp-spotting inside covers. The spine of volume 3 is faded, volume 5 has spine creases. The front covers look great, with one small corner crease, and modest edgewear on some volumes. Due to the browning and damp-spotting, the overall condition of the set is rated as good only. An attractive set, uniform in appearance, with "modern" front cover art by James Steranko on the first 3 volumes, and the original pulp cover art by Frederick Blakeslee on the remaining volumes.
