Fraenger sah wie auch Andere in dem schmalen, erhalten gebliebenen Werk des Malers ein politisches Manifest, weil dieser sich im Bauernkrieg für die Seite der Bauern engagiert hatte und dafür letztlich auch verhaftet und 1525 oder 26 hingerichtet wurde.
