Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Tchaikovsky on Records" is all about what was available on the old 78 rpm records, which represented , at the time, the most modern of sound reproduction. The book was written by John Halliday, a musician and song writer. The Foreword was written by Artur Rodzinski (1892 - 1958), who was a highly respected Polish conductor of symphonies and operas. After moving to the United States he gained fame as the conductor for the Cleveland Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. ************************************************ The book was published by The Four Corners Press in New York in paperback format. This is the First Edition, so identified on the verso of the title page. As well as a discography, the book contains a brief discussion of Tchaikovsky's life and music, both of which are excellent. Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky was, of course, the composer of such perennial classics as The Pathetique Symphony, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, the Nutcracker Suite, and a host of other musical works of genius in a great variety of genres. He is one of the world's musical immortals. *********************************************** SERIES : Not identified [but : "Famous Composers on 78 RPM Records"] / TITLE : Tchaikovsky on Records / AUTHOR : John Halliday / FOREWORD : Artur Rodzinski (1892 - 1958) / IMPRINT : The Four Corners Press / PLACE : New York / DATE : (1942) / EDITION : First Edition (PBO) / STATUS : OP / PHYSICAL DETAILS : Measuring 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" and featuring a bright cover illustration in a modernistic style.
