Soft cover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 8vo, pp. 23-47, as issued. A stand-alone oddity, with a single other example known by WorldCat, held at Mugar Library, Boston University. The author had been a serious Chicago real estate promoter and speculator during the 1850's and 1860's. He had moved there with his father in 1832. By 1834, he had a hand in publishing an early lithographed map of Chicago. Eventually, the man relocated for a while to the Northeast, and, as here, attempted to market a book titled OUR FEDERAL UNION, relating to issues of States Rights, but it was likely never published. There is some reason to believe that the present piece was printed as an Addendum to his pamphlet titled "ILLINOIS TO MASSACHUSETTS. GREETING!." since the paginations and dates coincide nicely. Such is purely speculation. Despite the man's singular achievements, he wound up being committed to an asylum shortly after the Chicago fire of 1871.
