Hardcover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. xiv, 286pp, appendix, index, illustrated with 20 full-page black and white plates on glossy paper, printed on both sides, including a portrait of Elijah C. Cornett; also includes several drawn maps, green cloth with gilt lettering at spine, moderate general wear, blue ink spot noted at fore edge, pencil notes occasionally noted at text, two incidents of ink notes noted as well, one is a singe word, the other a short sentence. This is the very scarce original edition. Please note: the 1976 reprint edition, not dated as such, carries the original 1953 copyright date and is sometimes confused with the first edition. However, it was issued with a dust jacket, and the notice at front that it was reprinted for the Bicentennial, a point obviously not noted in the present original edition.
