Tired and cold, but full of eager anticipation, we arrived in a remote part of the island on a dark, snowy night. The following morning we took a look outside. At once the effect of the land and sea was irresistible; the mountains and the islands drew us out and about. Although we had come here to work, we spent all our available spare time exploring. Finding our way around this new landscape, it was not long before we began encountering the wildlife. Curious at every new spectacle, we searched all the nooks and crannies within walking distance; in our first year we had no transport. Intent on getting to know the flora and fauna, we gave little thought to how we would settle into our new environment, it simply became apparent before long that we had done so. Our interest was aroused at every fresh discovery, but it was the golden eagles which took a hold of us and continue to fascin.
