Soft cover. Condizione: Good. Volume 8, No. 1, January 1963, Richard E. Decker publisher, unknown location, not stated. "Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Sampler" From front cover: "256 pages, More than 20 short stories, Presented by the Master of Suspense". From the inside front cover ( has small silhouette of Hitchcock); "Dear Readers, Have you noticed a physical similarity between this stout little volume and me? The important thing, however, is its intention: to introduce you to the type of entertainment offered each month in my magazine, Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. The Sampler is actually composed of two issues of the magazine bound together. And after you've had it as an appetizer - and a most substantial and vitamin enriched one it is - you will be most eager, I am sure, for more and more of this kind of fare. Scattered among the 256 pages of this volume, you will find several different subscription offers. All of these offers are still available at the prices quoted. I won't keep you any longer, Take a deep breath and plunge into the first story. May you have a shivering good time. Alfred Hitchcock" ( signature facsimile) The first listing in the Table of contents is a Novelette by Brad Williams entitled "Ley De Fuga" Followed by "Short Stories" which include " The Third Party in the Case" by Philip Ketchum, "If This Be MAdness" by Lawrence Block, "Birds of One Feather" by Arthur Porges, "Meet Death at Night" by C.B. Giford, "The Door" by Glen Canary and more for a total of only 10 listed. There are many more titles and stories included, but they are not in the TOC.? The paperback book has Marguerite Blair Deacon listed as "Art Director" and there are many, many nice black and white illustrations throughout. Condition is a bit rough with that has wear, some soil, fading and some small tears to both front and back paper covers. The interior end papers, vintage advertising etc have no markings, and most are in good condition with only light browning to paper. A good Reading copy for any lover of vintage mystery, Hitchcock fans or collectors.
