First edition, first printing, of this insight into the economic position of women in the 1940s. It "attempts to explore some reasons for the constant masculine-feminine controversy over the coin of the realm, and to suggest tentative answers to a few of the costly wrong guesses about feminine financial attitudes so prevalent in various branches of the present system" (p. 10). Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Kidd (1904-1958) worked in advertising and journalism and contributed widely to The Ladies' Home Journal. Octavo. Original green cloth, spine and front cover lettered and blocked in dark blue. With dust jacket. A touch of wear to corners and spine ends, damp stain to tail of spine and lower inner corner of rear cover, a handful of faint marks to edges; jacket unclipped, extremities creased and nicked resulting in loss to head of spine and rear fold, not affecting text, panels soiled: a very good copy in like jacket.
