SUBTITLED : ` Reminiscences of Prince Albert Settlement's Early Citizens '. the back cover of this 228 page volume - includes INDEX - features an amateur's drawing of Prince Albert - 1885. it is entitled: 'The Fort of Refuge'. Much of the content also deals with Duck Lake, Riel, and General Wolsley and `friends'. (A committee of 5 actually compiled this volume.) There is a very handy map on pages 6 & 7. A few b/w photos at front - someone has edited the names of individuals. History beware ! Learn more about : Kildonan Settlement, John Smith's Reserve, Inspector Constantine of the North West Mounted Police, and Kestapinik. Cond : White paper wrapper is lightly soiled. It has black letters and a banner: 1866 - 1895. Binding tight, no tears. Minor spine twist. Excellent local history reference . Quote (p. 87) : " During 1888, with the aid of H.B. Garven, I built a boat, the machinery being partially secured from the company whose boats plied the river and partially purchased in Chicago and brought over from Winnipeg in carts.
