This issue is given over to a memorial for literary critic Francis Otto Matthiessen, beloved teacher, influential critic, and author/editor, being the compiler of "The Oxford Book of American Verse". Inside the issue is given the title, "F. O. Matthiessen 1902 - 1950 : A Collective Portrait". At the front of the issue are two black-and-white photographs of Matthiessen.
