These saddles range from the simplest of designs to the most ornate and hand-tooled leather creations. Modern day saddle makers build saddles for the real cowboys of the West who use them in cutting, reining, working cow horse, rodeo, and more. The images in this collection show off the skilled craftsmanship and creativity that goes into each one. David R. Stoecklein (1949-2014) had a long and highly successful career as a professional photographer. His early career heavily featured outdoor lifestyle photos and advertising work for such major companies as Reebok, Coke, Chevy, Stetson, Marlboro, Wrangler, and many others. He later worked closely with ranchers and cowboys from every Western state, where he gained a deep understanding of and respect for cowboys. His quest to keep the spirit of the West alive was heartfelt and uncompromising, and he spent every free moment photographing cowboys and all elements of their lives, preserving their heritage and traditions.

On page 166 (blank) the form letter from the publisher, folded in half, printed side out, is tipped on, with glue at the top edge. Date of letter is September 12, 2005, and addressed "To all my friends who are a part of the Saddle book ." There is no indication as who may have placed it there.The page is not creased except at the center. Signed by Author(s).
