Libro Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Enrique Fernandez wrote the introduction to this volume with black paper boards with green lettering on the spine and front cover. There are 79 pages to this publication, the first twelve are text and most of the rest have the title of an image on the left hand side of the book and a black-and-white image on the right hand side. There is also a selected list of the photographer's exhibitions and where his work has been collected. Michael Koetzel was the editor for this volume. There is a hint of yellowing to the margins of the leafs, and wear to the bottom edges of the boards-the black ink has worn off in some places showing white. There is also a semi-circular indentation to the dust wrapper which has carried through to the front board. The wrapper has other superficial wear, on the front and back panerl and along the edges. The dust wrapper is now protected by a clear removable cover.

Wraps. Condizione: As New. An exhibition catalog. With handwritten letter by author laid in, signed, on his personal stationary. "A native of Cuba and longtime resident of Miami, Mario Algaze "went to Latin America to look for his roots". These perfectly composed black and white photographs are witness to the vastness and diversity of the Latin American world that he perceived. They portray a peacefulness, even if it is a temporary one, that transcends the various regions' political lives and requires instead contemplation, attention to detail and nuance". Hardback in dustj, 27x28,5 cm 192 pp. Condition: Fine = as new. In the English language. This publication, Respect for Light showcases the unique genius of Latin American photographer (by birth and subject matter) Mario Algaze, whose deep appreciation and understanding of the nuances of light - sunlight pouring in through church windows, illuminating a pair of teacups on a cafe table, casting late-afternoon shadows on a cobblestoned street - is both legendary and rare. This compilation is an exquisite and comprehensive collection of work by the Cuban-American photographer who, after being exiled from his homeland at the age of thirteen, traveled extensively in Central and South America, capturing the spirit of Latin America through his lens and seeking a connection with his cultural roots. This book represents the full breadth of the artist's work, culled from over three decades of travel in sixteen different countries. Scarce.
