For more than four decades, the photographer Daniel Meadows has depicted ordinary people and places from Sheffield to Southampton, Barrow-in-Furness to Brighton. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Daniel Meadows, Vintage Publishing. In 1973 Daniel Meadows, fresh out of art school, bought a double-decker bus and set off round England in search of ordinary people to photograph. In the course of his journey he offered free portrait sessions in 22 different towns, developing the black and white prints inside the bus, in which he also lived. He photographed 958 people, alone or in groups. A quarter of a century later Meadows came across the bus photographs in his archive and was struck by how fresh they were. With the help of the local press in various towns, he went in search of the original sitters. Many could not be found, some had died but a number of people turned up to be re-photographed. Meadows interviews the sitters who talk candidly about their lives, their friends, their loves, their families and the future -providing a moving accompaniment to Meadows' own journey through time. Paperback.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Daniel Meadows is a pioneer of contemporary British documentary practice. His photographs and audio recordings, made over forty-five years, capture the life of England's 'great ordinary'. Challenging the status quo by working collaboratively, he has fashioned from his many encounters a nation's story both magical and familiar. This book includes important work from Meadows' ground-breaking projects, drawing on the archives now held at the Bodleian Library. Fiercely independent, Meadows devised many of his creative processes: he ran a free portrait studio in Manchester's Moss Side in 1972, then travelled 10,000 miles making a national portrait from his converted double-decker the Free Photographic Omnibus, a project he revisited a quarter of a century later. At the turn of the millennium he adopted new 'kitchen table' technologies to make digital stories: 'multimedia sonnets from the people', as he called them. He sometimes returned to those he had photographed, listening for how things were and how they had changed. Through their unique voices he finds a moving and insightful commentary on life in Britain. Then and now. Now and then. Daniel Meadows is a pioneer of contemporary British documentary practice. Drawing on the archives now held at the Bodleian Library, this book includes important work from Meadows' ground-breaking projects and offers a moving and insightful commentary on forty-five years' of life in Britain.
