The hospital is the second hospital to be started in Sydney and was opened in 1857. This book is an account of the development of surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital for a span of over a hundred years. It has been written at the suggestion of members of the Hospital staff to commemorate the great work of the late Justin Fleming and Noel Newton, both very distinguished Australian surgeons.
