He was 86 New York magazine once referred to Dr. Rees as 'one of the fathers of aesthetic surgery in New York,' and he is credited with helping to elevate cosmetic surgery from something one did not really discuss to almost a status symbolÂ" From the American Association of Plastic Surgeons website: "Dr. Thomas D. Rees, 86, a giant in our great specialty of plastic surgery, died in the early evening of November 14, 2013 at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
