A watershed production for Black avant-garde and independent theatre, "A Black Quartet" presented four one-act plays by four Black playwrights: "Prayer Meeting or, The First Militant Minister" by Ben Caldwell; "The Warning: A Theme for Linda" by Ronald Milner; "Great Goodness of Life (A Coon Show)" by Amiri Baraka (then known as Leroi Jones), and "The Gentleman Caller" by Ed Bullins.
