Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The International Conference 'Algebraic Geometry and Analytic Geometry, Tokyo 1990' was held at Tokyo Metropolitan University and the Tokyo Training Center of Daihyaku Mutual Life Insurance Co., from August 13 through August 17, 1990, under the co-sponsorship of the Mathematical Society of Japan. It was one of the satellite conferences of ICM90, Kyoto, and approximately 300 participants, including more than 100 from overseas, attended the conference. The academic program was divided into two parts, the morning sessions and the afternoon sessions. The morning sessions were held at Tokyo Metropolitan University, and two one-hour plenary lectures were delivered every day. The afternoon sessions at the Tokyo Training Center, intended for a more specialized audience, consisted of four separate subsessions: Arithemetic Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Analytic Geometry I and Analytic Geometry II. This book contains papers which grew out of the talks at the conference. The committee in charge of the organization and program consisted of A. Fujiki, K. Kato, T. Katsura, Y. Kawamata, Y. Miyaoka, S. Mori, K. Saito, N. Sasakura, T. Suwa and K. Watanabe. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many mathematicians and students who cooperated to make the conference possible, especially Professors T. Fukui, S. Ishii, Y. Kitaoka, M. Particularly the modern study of moduli spaces and arithmetic geometry have many important techniques and ideas in common. With this close relation in mind, the RIMS conference Moduli Spaces and Arithmetic Geometry was held at Kyoto University during September 8-15, 2004 as the 13th International Research Institute of the Mathematical Society of Japan. This volume is the outcome of this conference and consists of thirteen papers by invited speakers, including C Soulé, A Beauville and C Faber, and participants. All papers, with two exceptions by C Voisin and Yoshinori Namikawa, treat moduli problem and/or arithmetic geometry. Algebraic curves, Abelian varieties, algebraic vector bundles, connections and D-modules are the subjects of those moduli papers. Arakelov geometry and rigid geometry are studied in arithmetic papers. In the two exceptions, integral Hodge classes on Calabi-Yau threefolds and symplectic resolutions of nilpotent orbits are studied.Published by Mathematical Society of Japan and distributed by World Scientific Publishing Co. for all markets except North America.

It gives an introduction to the classification theory and geometry of higher dimensional complex-algebraic varieties, focusing on the tremendeous developments of the sub ject in the last 20 years. The work is in two parts, with each one preceeded by an introduction describing its contents in detail. Here, it will suffice to simply ex plain how the subject matter has been divided. Cum grano salis one might say that Part 1 (Miyaoka) is more concerned with the algebraic methods and Part 2 (Peternell) with the more analytic aspects though they have unavoidable overlaps because there is no clearcut distinction between the two methods.
