Condizione: Very Good. This uncommon and ephemeral map commemorates a 1952 cruise of the U.S.S. Sarasota across the Mediterranean Sea. Between January and May, the Haskell-class attack transport conducted training operations with the Marines as part of the U.S. 6th Fleet. Her path from Gibraltar to Beirut and back can be tracked across the somewhat simple image, which also provides an itinerary and list of landings. The verso provides a list of mileage traveled since departure from Norfolk, VA - over 17,000 in total! Published compliments of the U.S.S. Saratoga Navigation Department for members of the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines. Sheet Width (in) 13 Sheet Height (in) 8 Condition Description "Printed on a toned sheet that has a .5" closed tear (repaired on verso) on the right edge. A concentration of black spots, likely a result of the original printing, visible in the center of the image. Printed text on verso. Good condition overall.".
