Condizione: Very good. - Over 50 words penned on both sides of 6-3/4 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide creamy white paper with the address "26 Clapton Common, London, N.E." embossed in blind at top right. Paget expresses his regrets that he can't attend Miss Barran's music festival "It seems as though the fates continue to rob me of the pleasure of being at your Musical Festival", explaining that he is scheduled to preach for the East London Church Fund and must leave that Saturday evening. Signed "H.L. Stepney" [Henry Luke Stepney] as Bishop of Stepney. Folded for mailing with paper and glue remnants adhering to the top edge of the second page, none of which affects the text. Very good. Henry Luke Paget (1853-1937) served under Benjamin Webb as assistant curate for St. Andrew's Church in London's West End. He briefly served as vice principal of the Leeds Clergy School but soon returned to London's East End serving the poor through the mission located there. After serving in various churches, Paget was appointed Bishop of Stepney in 1909 and subsequently Bishop of Chester in 1919.
