At the time of this publication, he was serving as an associate professor in the faculty of Philosophy and Letters. The work contains many references to, and discussions of the contributions of Papahagi's mentor, pioneering philologist, linguist, folklorist, literary historian and poet Ovid Densusianu (1873-1938), who was also a leading faculty member.
