The boards are fairly firm, a little marked and with bumped and frayed corners and spine ends. The front end papers are brown and cracked down middle; the rear end papers show titles in the catalogue of Warne's. Gilt cut edges. The text block is tight, straight and with lightly foxed Prelims and some text pages; grubby marks but not tanned. Small tear to tail edge of title page. With illustrations by C. Stanton, J. McWhirter, C.F. Staniland, Harrison Weir and others, engraved by R. Paterson. No dedications etc. Frontispiece with lightly marked tissue guard. Good condition. Without jacket.
