(8230) L'autore, cofondatore della "Société Chrétienne Orientale", costuitasi a Parigi nel 1853, sostiene in questa esposizione la necessità di riunificazione della Chiesa Orientale con la Chiesa di Roma, che a suo dire sarebbe già stata consacrata dal Concilio Ecumenico di Firenze del 1430. A detta dell'autore, non esistendo all'epoca differenze sostanziali nei dogmi, nei riti e nelle liturgie, e considerato anche che l'Impero Ottomano non riconosceva formalmente l'esistenza di una chiesa separata, identificando i cristiani d'Oriente con la denominazione di "Rùm" (Romani), ed il patriarca di Costantinopoli come "Roum-Patrik" (Patriarca dei Romani), non si vedevano ostacoli sostanziali a questa riunificazione, salvo le gelose difese conservatrici del clero orientale.
