Color frontispiece with five color plates and numerous black-and-white illustrations throughout. With black-and-white pictorial endpapers of a boy and a dog. [56] pages. Prior owner's name in ink to front fly leaf. Light pumping to edges, with some mild sunning to extremities. Overall clean and sound.

Condizione: Very good. Scarce first American edition of the story Maximilian and Matilda's time spent among humanized rabbits. Preston and Howard-vyse teamed up for a number of titles in the PEEK-A-BOO series, Preston responsible for the PEEK-A-BOOs and Howard-Vyse in charge of their animal compatriots. Howard-Vyse's style is quite reminiscent of Beatrix Potter. 8.75'' x 7.75''. Original pictorial boards with color embossed roundel to front cover. Pictorial endpapers of a rabbit and a little girl. Color frontispiece with seven color plates and numerous black-and-white illustrations throughout. [68] pages. Ink gift inscription to front flyleaf dated "Christmas 1913." Light soiling and rubbing to cover, with mild edgewear; a few small spots to text. Overall sound and neat.
