Hardcover. Condizione: new. Moss, Rachel (illustratore). Hardcover. "[Respect's] art, by Rachel Moss, a Jamaican illustrator fueled by the energy of the Caribbean, will make readers want to amp up the music and dance, which perhaps is exactly what all of us need right now." -New York Times Book Review "R-E-S-P-E-C-T / Find out what it means to me R-E-S-P-E-C-T / Take care, TCB Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me) A little respect . . ." Respect is a children's picture book based on lyrics written and originally recorded by Otis Redding in 1965. Aretha Franklin's iconic rendition of the song later peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1967. Redding's lyrics continue to resonate with listeners today. With lyrics by Otis Redding and illustrations by Rachel Moss, this irresistible book shows a young girl, her brother, and her parents conjuring as many positive futures for each other as they can dream. Packed with playful vignettes as they imagine a life full of possibility, Respect provides families an opportunity to explore themes of mutual respect-while revisiting one of the greatest songs ever written. Otis Redding's classic song 'Respect,' as popularised by Aretha Franklin, is beautifully adapted to picture book form. No Binding. Condizione: Near Fine. Not a book but a 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl "single" record, Volt OS-13100, probably a re-issue (possibly as late as 1984), near-mint vinyl (actually appears to be shiny Styrene) with a small amount of visible rub to the mostly orange-and-brown Volt label. "My Lover's Prayer" is credited to Redding; "Dock of the Bay" to Steve Cropper-Otis Redding.

Prima edizione
No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Not a book but a group of seven, 7-inch, 45 rpm rhythm & blues records from the year 1964, combined to consolidate shipping. All of these discs will play well, but none of them (except the Dot re-release) are shiny new. Some of the labels, particularly, show Previous Owners' Names and considerable rub from having been stored without individual paper sleeves. Nonetheless, for a very reasonable price you get the ORIGINAL RELEASES of Marvin Gaye singing Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" (Tamla 54107, vinyl very-good or better, Previous Owner's initials to label); The Miracles' rendition of Smokey Robinson's ""I Like It Like That," (Tamla 54098, vinyl very-good-plus but much multi-colored name-scrawling to the label); The Diplomats' "Here's A Heart" (Arock Records AR-1004, included here only because it's a bit uncommon, vinyl good only, with plenty of shallow scratches and a couple of small edge chips which don't quite reach the playing surface, as well as a label that looks like it's been through the wars); TWO Temptations renderings of songs by Smokey Robinson, "The Way You Do The Things You Do" (GO 7028, vinyl very-good or better) and "Baby Baby I Need You", backed with "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" (Gordy 7035, vinyl well used but still very-good or better, Previous Owner's Name to the well-worn label); The Counts' "Darling Dear / I Need You Always (DOT 45-244, near-mint styrene, but a re-release of what was originally a 1954 offering, now showing a post-1962 zip code to Hollywood address, release date not known but 1964 is our guess), and finally Otis Redding's "Don't Leave Me This Way / Come to Me" ( Volt 45-116, shiny and very-good or better. Group of seven ORIGINAL 45 rpm "singles" from the year 1964, priced together as one lot to consolidate shipping charge, the lot now reduced from $30.
