Exlib markings on both volumes, front end paper gutters split, spine ends are scuffed and small splits with some fraying. Decent. Rev. Norman Macleod, D.D., (1780-1866) a distinguished minister of the Scottish Church, studied at Edinburgh, and was ordained in 1838. He was a trusted friend of Queen Victoria. He was the author of many works, including The Golden Thread (1861) and Reminiscences of a Highland Parish (1867). He was also the editor of the monthly magazine GOOD WORDS between 1860 and 1872. He served as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church in 1869 and visited Canada and India to represent the church.
