Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good Minus. You can see the covers in the photos. They have some wear, particularly at the top edge of the front and rear covers involving some minor loss and surface erosion. There is also a bump crease at the bottom right-hand corner of the front which has in turn created a similar small dent in the same place on most of the pages. The inside covers and end papers are a light blue. They are very clean. You are of course getting the reverse side of the same narrow loss that you see on the covers, but none of the spots of erosion. There is also a small bookplate on the front inside cover of a Francis Jay Underhill. Here is the first paragraph of his Wikipedia profile: 'Francis Jay Underhill was an author, amateur musician, and American bond broker with two firms, Fisk & Robinson and later with J. & W. Seligman & Co., that played a leading role in the financing and construction of the Panama Canal. Owing to his commercial success, Underhill was a collector of art and musical instruments, including many engravings, etchings, and lithographs of noted European and American artists. Underhill was an amateur musician and acquired an Antonio Stradivari violin of 1732 called the "Red Diamond." Underhill was also 4th President of the Underhill Society of America.' Easy to understand why he owned this book. Back to the condition of the book: the pages, excluding the corner dent, are in excellent condition. They are very clean and bright. In fact I don't see any soiling at all. There are a good many illustrations and they all seem to be in excellent shape, very clean, no wear. Again, excluding the bottom corner dent, I don't see any other kinds of creasing, no dogeared corners, no placeholder creases. There are also no markings. There is one penciled word at the bottom of page 5. Mr. Underhill( presumably) crossed out the word 'every' in the sentence 'In the Low Countries every bell of a carillon has its name.' Below in the margin he wrote the words 'many a'. However he must've approved of everything else because there is no other writing of any kind to be found anywhere else in the book. And that, I believe covers everything. Take a look at the photos.
