His unusual sensitivity to young male schizophrenics and his delicacy in perceiving and reacting to anxiety in therapeutic interactions are reflected in the seminar.The contemporary discussions, conducted by Dr. Kvarnes, now director of the Washington School of Psychiatry, Washington, D.C., follow each of the original seminar sessions, consider the seminar content itself, and show the differences that twenty-five years have made in the various trends in therapy and in salient social programs. Inscription reads, "To Penny Pickett.We've had a good start on our Sullivan journey; hope it's a long + fruitful one. Glad you're with us. Bob Kvarnes July, 1983." This hardcover first edition is a 1st printing in Very Good condition with a price-clipped dust jacket in VG condition as well. The spine ends are indented and the corners show some shelf wear; otherwise the covers are in good shape. The binding is tight though slightly rolled forward. There is a small abrasion on the front flyleaf. The interior pages are clean and unmarked. Jacket has some shelf wear on the spine ends and a small tear at the top of the rear of the jacket about an inch in from the front edge. Front flap is price-clipped at the top corner and clipped on the bottom corner as well. The book will be carefully packaged for shipment for protection from the elements. Jacket shows just a hint of shelf wear. USPS electronic tracking number issued free of charge. Inscribed by Editor.
