The boards are flat and quite clean; edge-worn and with collapsed hollow and very loose from pages. Lightly tanned free end papers. The text block is coming away from the boards; from page 7 the pages are quite well bound; the last page is loose. The prelims and some text pages are lightly foxed; a few fore edges have marks and the cut edges are slightly tanned. With black and white illustrations and colour frontispiece by Ernest Aris, Sylvia I. Venus, E. H. Davie and Gordon Robinson. Some of the illustrations have been coloured in. Fair condition and a reading copy. No dedications. Without jacket.
