Prima edizione Copia autografata
Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. The first issue of this literary magazine formed in response to the censoring of William Burroughs' "Naked Lunch" and any work from Jack Kerouac. Editor Rosenthal was told not to publish Burroughs or Kerouac in the upcoming winter issue of "The Chicago Review" a literary publication from the University of Chicago. With help from Alan Ginsberg, and Gregory Corso who both promised financial and promotional aid, "Big Table" was started. THIS COPY IS SIGNED BY ALAN GINSBERG, GREGORY CORSO AND PETER ORLOVSKY. The signatures were obtained while the trio were likely on a promotional reading tour for the new publication at Harvard University March 26,1959. Ginsberg writes below his signature "salesman". "During the course of the question period which followed the reading, Mr. Ginsberg and Mr. Corso entertained the audience with some amusing observations on the "beat generation." Mr. Ginsberg allowed as how he thought "being called a beatnik is a real drag: I'm a poet;" and called spontaneity the foundation of his work--"Writing poetry is like going to the bathroom." No writer attributed, Harvard Crimson, March 27, 1959 Original mail order card loosely inserted. A small hand typed and signed note (inserted) from the person who acquired the signatures states they were obtained at the Lowell Lecture Hall in the spring of 1959 and that he attended with Valerie Shaw. Signed by Author(s).
