In very good condition. The binding is intact and firm. Short, tody, guft inscription (To David from Cousin Karen) inside front cover, otherwise unmarked. Light shelfwear to board edges. The dustjacket is unclipped, showing original $1.00 price, and is in very good overall condition with mild wear and rubbing to extremities (mainly the spine). Still bright and attractive in a new clear Mylar wrapper. Book.

Vibrant yellow pictorial boards show faint wear to corners. Jacket is price clipped but protected in mylar with a few tiny chips on spine ends and upper edges.

Frances Clarke Sayers (1897-1989) was an American children's librarian, author of children's books, and lecturer on children's literature. In 1999, American Libraries named her one of the "100 Most Important Leaders We Had in the 20th Century". Helen Sewell (1896-1957) was an American illustrator who took classes taught by Alexander Archipenko and was the first illustrator of the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Price-clipped. Jacket is in a new protective Brodart cover. Boards are covered in light khaki-colored cloth with a paper pastedown on the front. Little to no wear on the boards. Spine is tight. Pages are clean. No writing inside. No rips, bends, or stains. No funky odors.

Book has very slight shelf-rubbing to edges, small thin rust line to edge of endpaper from paperclip, else a better than very good, clean, unmarked and bright copy in a custom archival Mylar jacket. Scarce Sewell title.

Spine ends are rubbed and there is some discoloration to the top inch of the front board. Bookplate on front pastedown. Binding tight, text and illustrations clean and bright. Dust jacket has one-inch tear along the front joint and some small chips to the top edge and front fold, but is generally well preserved and attractive. Helen Sewell was a prolific illustrator, known for illustrating Laura Ingalls Wilders's Little House books, works by Elizabeth Coatesworth and A.A. Milne, and serveral of her own books (among others). Sayers was an author, librarian, and lecturer on children's literature. This was her first book.
