Juni 1971 in Tübingen) war ein deutscher Paläontologe.Er studierte ab 1914 an der Universität Göttingen unter anderem bei Hans Stille und Rudolf Wedekind und nach Unterbrechung durch Wehrdienst im Ersten Weltkrieg an der Universität Marburg, wohin er Wedekind folgte, bei dem er 1919 über Ammoniten des Oberdevon aus der Gegend um Hof promoviert wurde. 1921 habilitierte er sich als Assistent von Wedekind und 1927 wurde er außerplanmäßiger Professor in Marburg.(Wikipedia) Da Schindwolf nach eigenen Angaben nach 1921 nicht die Zeit fand, die Habilitationsschrift zum Druck abzuschließen, wollte er mit der vorliegenden Schrift die Systematik der Perisphincten "wenigstens in ihren Grundzügen" darstellen.
