The text is wholly unmarked, pristine, and the decorative cloth binding is still quite bright and fresh in appearance. Fraying at he extremities of the jacket, with several intact tears alon he upper and lower edges, front and rear. All in all a handsome copy.

Shoemaker won the Pulitzer Prize twice along with numerous other awards. On the ffep is a large caricature and inscription,"HI, Pastor Ewald and signed 'Shoemaker'. Laid in back is a political cartoon on Viet Nam from 1967. If you read the newspapers during this time period, you will recognize some of these cartoons.
