Construite en 9 2 sur les hauts de La Chaux-de-Fonds, la villa Jeanneret-Perret, dite « Maison blanche » à cause de l'enduit de ses façades et de sa toiture en Eternit clair, a été la première maison entièrement conçue par Le Corbusier, qui l'a fait bâtir pour ses parents. En mai 2 , après plusieurs années d'abandon, l'Association Maison blanche, spécialement créée dans ce but, a pu acquérir la maison et charger un groupe de spécialistes de divers domaines de fournir un appui à l'architecte mandaté pour la restauration, Pierre Minder. Par ce projet de restauration exemplaire, la Maison blanche devait retrouver son aspect de laboratoire d'idées du jeune Le Corbusier. La faisabilité de toutes les mesures prises a été soigneusement examinée sur la base des observations des restaurateurs et de recherches dans les archives. La documentation ainsi réunie, à laquelle s'ajoutent les photographies couleur d'Eveline Perroud et les dessins de relevé et de reconstitution, a fourni la matière pour cette monographie détaillée.

While the workplace has always been the focus of ergonomic studies and optimization with respect to a good provision of daylight, large glass surfaces have now become the order of the day for living spaces as well. But does this automatically make for better illumination? Taking this question as its starting point, the publication Illuminating thematizes central aspects of light planning, including the connection between the provision of daylight and architectural design, building orientation, the nature of the facade, the ground plan, comfort, and the proportions and atmosphere of rooms.
