two of the Thorne Ranch, Carson 4th of July celebration, a Church, all four are identified. The ranch picture is 8x10 inches, with a 4 inch tear, an old tape repair on the back; the Thorne family in "Thorne Grove" is 4 3/4 x 7 5/8; 4th of July 4x7; the Church is 4 1/2 x 7 7/8. With: Many later copies (from about 1965) of many old Carson City photos, about 15 are 5 x 7, six 3 1/2 x 5, one 3 x 5; six of Belmont, Nevada (look like photos of real picture postcards); and a color postcard of the Carson Presbyterian Church. With: "Carson City, the Early Years", Portland: The Pediment Group, 1997, one or more old photos on virtually every page, with a foreword by Jeff Ackerman, editor and publisher of the Nevada Appeal. Two of the four listed above are reproduced in this book, "The Thorne Ranch, c.1890" and "4th of July", c.1906, though the books shows a slightly different shot from the same place - some pedestrians have moved a few feet. In Fine condition. This archive may have been in preparation for a presentation or publication such as this book. A couple of old references to the Thornes from the "Nevada Appeal": 130 Years Ago (9/16/2016, "Nevada Appeal") "A long drunk: A. Markley and Frank Thorne went up the valley in a wagon and had been drinking a little. Thorne got out at the flume and Markley drove the team off to Jack s Valley where he unhitched the team and let it go. He was arrested on a complaint sworn to by Thorne and charged with stealing. The case was called to court, and he was there, still drunk, and the Justice sent him to jail to sober up.
