This wildly exuberant picture book is based on a libretto that Seth wrote for an English National Opera production, which in turn, of course, is based on the ancient Greek legend of the poet Arion and his rescue from pirates by a dolphin. Lovely to note that Seth has dedicated the book to Fungie, the Dingle Dolphin. Anyone who, like me, has stood on the Dingle harbor in southwest Ireland and watched the wild dolphin play with swimmers, or who has heard Heathcote Williams recite his poem "Falling for a Dolphin", will be likewise pleased.
