No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Clarence Sinclair Bull & Fred Parrish (Set Photographers) (illustratore). GONE WITH THE WIND. Los Angeles, California: Selznick Studios, [1939]. Original & magnificent 1939 vintage oversized glossy double weight gelatin silver exhibition print (12" by 15") from "GONE WITH THE WIND" featuring VIVIEN LEIGH as Scarlett O'Hara, LESLIE HOWARD as Ashley Wilkes, and OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND as Melanie Hamilton. In Very Good condition with minor blemishes to the borders but not to the image itself. A limited number of these huge prints were displayed in 1939 at the various premieres of the film around the United States; in some cases, not here, the theater owner would write the show times in the bottom margin. This larger format photo shows excellent detail and has an original Selznick Studio snipe on the back to prove its first release authenticity. Vivien Leigh's appeal is never more obvious than in this remarkable close-up. This photo was taken by one of two set photographers assigned to the film. Clarence Sinclair Bull was a famous film portrait artist, this is more likely his work. The other studio photographer Fred Parrish was more likely to have captured the scene stills. GONE WITH THE WIND remains, after nearly 85 years, one of the greatest successes in Hollywood film history, having attained and maintained an exalted place in popular culture. Exhibition prints of this size, still retaining the studio promotional snipe on the back, are exceedingly uncommon.
