This edited volume, originating from an international symposium, compiles 22 peer-reviewed chapters organized into two core parts: methodologies and applications. It reflects a growing trend in engineering and industrial design where emotional value is considered a critical axis of product development, alongside performance, reliability, and cost. It highlights the historical evolution of this paradigm from early experiments with fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, and psychological economics (notably Kahneman's Nobel-winning work), to current interdisciplinary methodologies involving bio-signals, cognitive models, and machine learning.
