This catalogue was deaccessioned from the library of the art dealer Offer Waterman and Co. and bears a discreet circular blindstamp hand-numbered in the centre to the lower right of the title page. 272pp. Many colour and some b/w illustrations. This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition curated by Darren Leak and Bianca Chu at Sotheby's S2 Gallery, London from 14th February to 28th March, 2019. The exhibition explored the concepts of the erotic, the body, surrealism, performance and theatricality in art from the 19th century to the present day, accompanied by a reprint of Yasunari Kawabata's 1961 novella of the same name. Artists such as Francis Picabia, Joseph Cornell and Marcel Duchamp were exhibited alongside artists of the sixties and seventies such as Renate Bertlmann.
