While such discussion is complicated by the subjectivity of ethical understanding, the existing body of research also lacks evidence for the actual effects of child-directed advertising. In order to advance a solution in the persisting conflict, this paper critically examines public, governmental and corporate responsibilities. A reflection of theoretical and empirical research is therefore complemented by the collection of primary data drawn from qualitative interviews with children and their parents. As means of implications for practice, the author drafts an organisational concept, namely the Initiative for the responsible use and creation of children s food advertising . 52 pp. Englisch.

This study also focuses on the relationship between dependant motivational preferences, such as Pay and Appreciation, and independent variables, such as Gender and Age. Research was conducted through quantitative and qualitative elements. The quantitative instrument was a structured questionnaire. An unstructured interview with hotel managers in Kingston was the qualitative portion of the study. The study generated a response rate of over 80 percent from six different small hotels in Kingston. The survey was statistically analyzed using SPSS. Results of the study revealed that employees are dissatisfied with three of the five most important motivational preferences, such as Pay and Appreciation. Further, the study found that the independent variables Age, Gender, Education and Tenure influence the satisfaction with the dependant variables. This study will help to indicate areas that need attention from a managerial standpoint and it will contribute to job satisfaction research in general. 88 pp. Englisch.

The highly controversial and often misunderstood principle plays a central role in European risk regulation. The present volume should allow readers to gain an overview of all essential points linked with the role of the principle in the risk regulation framework of the European Union. Based on an outline of the precautionary principle s main characteristics and its conception by the European Commission, common allegations brought against the principle are illuminated and critically assessed. The second part of the book is then devoted to the actual implementation of the principle in the EU from early applications to ongoing disputes. Three case studies from the agrochemical, pharmaceutical and food packaging sector reflect current applications as well as the relevant institutional and procedural framework. Insights from the theoretical part and the case studies are melted in the final discussion section that also includes recommendations for EU risk regulators. 88 pp. Englisch.

It has been established that African stock markets are confronted with a multitude of problems which include inadequate liquidity, low capitalisation, few market participants, a small number of listed companies and low trading volumes. As a result, their broader economic impact has so far been limited. The Southern Africa Development Community ( SADC ) stock markets, with the exception of South Africa, are small both in terms of the number of listed companies and market capitalisation, and they display considerable illiquidity. In general, the SADC region has shallow and underdeveloped financial markets. Their development has been hampered by a number of factors which include; political and economic uncertainty, fiscal dominance, weak judicial institutions, limited investment opportunities in the private sector, technological constraints, and the shortage of skilled personnel with expertise in banking and finance. 116 pp. Englisch.
