Fotografia
Photograph, undated (circa 1915). Measuring 8 x 10 inches (about 20 x 25 cm.). Please note the tiny figure about to walk into the beam of light, just left of center. The California painter and photographer Andrew Putnam Hill (1853-1922) successfully led an effort to preserve a large Redwood forest in Big Basin, California as a public park. The effort helped launch the California State Park System in the early 20th century. Very good condition, printed slightly off kilter, and with some uneven areas of the mostly matte surface, with evidence of condensation along the left side. Viewed head-on it does not affect the image. With the photographer's blind stamp at foot, beneath the number 108 at left. Hill's ink stamp appears on the reverse side.
