No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Softcover (book is nearly square). First American edition - one of 2500 copies. Front cover depicts sepia toned photograph of Neruda at his desk (bewhind a hammer-shape cutout by Jim Dine). Twenty-seven pages of poetry by Neruda, in Spanish and English, translated by Alistair Reid side-by-side. There is a print of a signed note in English - in Neruda's handwriting - to Ted Hughes, on back cover. There is a half-inch crease to front upper foredge (at base of 'hammer claw' cut-out), a very small stain to bottom, right corner of Neruda photograph page (front and back), and a slight separation of pages at spine near forepart of book. Even with the aforementioned defects, the book still has a newness about it and is aesthetically appealing. Next day shipping guaranteed.

Prima edizione
First edition, wrapper issue (one of 3500); large 8vo, pp. [64]; 4 illustrations by Michelle Stuart; near fine in original pictorial wrappers with original plastic overlay. Allan Kornblum's copy with his ownership signature on the flyleaf dated Iowa City, January 1972. "Paul Blackburn is best known as a Black Mountain Poet because of his role as contributing editor and distributor of the Black Mountain Review and his subsequent inclusion with the group in Donald Allen's influential New American Poetry anthology (1960). Although many of Blackburn's concerns with formal innovation were shared by such faculty members of the experimental Black Mountain College as Robert Creeley and Charles Olson, the label does not illuminate some of Blackburn's more characteristic roles. In addition to being a fine lyric poet, Blackburn was one of America's foremost translators of Provençal troubadour verse, and he was a key organizer of readings by Beats and other young poets in New York in the late 1950s and 1960s" (Poetry Foundation).
