Libro Prima edizione Copia autografata
First printing. Signed first edition of this compelling monograph of Sugimoto's blurred, open-exposure portraits of buildings. Of this project, Sugimoto has written: "I set out to trace the beginnings of our age via architecture. Pushing out my old large-format camera's focal length to twice-infinityâ with no stops on the bellows rail, the view through the lens was an utter blurâ I discovered that superlative architecture survives the onslaught of blurred photography. Thus I began erosion-testing architecture for durability, completely melting away many of the buildings in the process" (artist's website). Published in conjunction with an exhibition in Chicago at the MCA that ran from February 22nd through June 1st, 2003. Includes a foreword by Robert Fitzpatrick, with essays by John Yau, Marco De Michelis, and exhibition curator Francesco Bonami. A striking production. 12'' x 11''. Publisher's original silver cloth. In original translucent pictorial jacket. 166 pages. Boldly signed by Sugimoto on the front free endpaper. Trace shelfwear here and there. Overall, bright and sharp. Near fine in a near fine jacket.
